Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Fairworks collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect
- Account details: name, email, phone, role (Customer/Pro/Admin), authentication identifiers.
- Pro details: business name, ABN/ACN, GST registration status, service categories, base postcode, service radius.
- Job details: the description and photos a Customer posts; the AI-generated scope of work; quotes; messages between parties.
- Payment data: handled by Stripe Connect under Stripe's privacy policy. Fairworks stores Stripe-issued identifiers only (account ids, payment-intent ids, transfer ids); we do not store full card numbers.
- Operational data: sign-in timestamps, request metadata, audit logs of significant actions (e.g. dispute resolutions).
2. How we use it
- To run the marketplace — match Pros to jobs, quote, book, and release escrow.
- To send transactional emails (new quotes, new messages, booking lifecycle events).
- To detect and respond to fraud, abuse, and disputes.
- To improve the platform — including running AI prompts over intake and matching data. AI requests are sent for processing and not used to train third-party models.
3. Disclosure to third parties
We share personal information only with the service providers needed to run the platform:
- Stripe — payments and Connect onboarding.
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting (data stored in ap-southeast-2 region).
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Anthropic — AI processing for intake and matching prompts.
- Google Cloud — application hosting (asia-southeast1).
Some processors operate outside Australia. By using the platform you consent to your data being processed in those locations.
4. Your rights
- Access: you may request a copy of the personal information we hold by visiting your privacy settings.
- Correction: you may request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion: you may delete your account and personal information from your privacy settings, subject to retention requirements (audit logs, financial records).
- Complaints: if you believe your privacy has been breached, contact us first; if unresolved, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
5. Retention
We retain personal information while your account is active and for as long as needed to meet legal, tax, and audit obligations. Financial records are retained for 7 years per ATO requirements.
6. Security
We use industry-standard controls — encrypted transport (HTTPS), access-controlled database hosting, secret-manager-bound credentials, and per-role authorisation in the application. We will notify affected users in line with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme if a qualifying incident occurs.
7. Children
The platform is not intended for under-18s and we do not knowingly collect their data.
8. Changes to this Policy
Material changes are notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
